Handling and Storage

In order to keep the rate of sublimation at the lowest level, dry ice is supplied in specially designed highly insulated boxes / containers, made from either polyethylene, glass-fiber or polypropylene (styropor).

Always keep the lid of the container closed when you are not using the ice
Never store ice in airtight containers or compartments
Always make sure the storage facilities have adequate high- and low-level ventilation so that a person can enter the room without risk of suffocation
Monitoring or warning equipment is strongly recommended
Use special cold-resistant gloves when handling dry ice
Do not transport dry ice in the driver or passenger department of a truck or car
Make sure that there is sufficient ventilation before entering the load compartment of a vehicle
The use of dry ice in vehicles where the driver’s compartment is isolated from the dry ice or load compartment is preferable
It should be possible to open doors of transport vehicles from the inside
Always carry a CO2 dry ice data sheet in the vehicle when transporting dry ice
